Jurčáková, Andrea ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Neuwirthová, Svatava (referee)
Title: Internal consistency of assessment set of clinical features of patients with multiple sclerosis and its correlation with the degree of neurological impairment. Objectives: The aim of this work is to verify the internal consistency of Assessment set of clinical features in patients with multiple sclerosis and its correlation with the degree of neurological disability that would comprehensively and objectively judged effect of physiotherapy in patients with MS. Method: Clinical Examination set of functions includes well-known, standard and validated assessments that evaluate the function associated with the central movement disorders focusing on the clinical manifestations of RS (Low-Contrast Letter Acuity Test contrasting vision, Motricity Index assesses muscle strength, spasticity Modified Ashworth Scale, Berg balance Scale equilibrium, Nine Hole Peg Test investigate fine motor skills, Timed 25 - Foot Walk assess walking speed over a distance of 7.5 m, Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test investigates cognitive function, and auditory information processing speed, simple computational skills and ability to concentrate after the duration of the test. Checking of clinical functions in patients with multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis - changes after the aerobic training
Sobotková, Lenka ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Radvanský, Jiří (referee)
The aim of the this dissertation was to introduce a set of examinations of clinical functions in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), which would be optimum for utilisation in physiotherapeutic practice, and also to compare changes to the individual examinations of this set after the patients underwent therapy consisting of aerobics training. We also monitored the persistence of the therapy's effect a month after its termination. The research was conducted on a set of 6 probands in the case of whom MS had been definitively confirmed, motor handicaps predominated, and the EDSS ranking was 3 to 5. Aerobic training took place twice a week for eight weeks. The intensity and length délka zátěže were stipulated individually according to the zátěžového vyšetření. After the therapy there were significant improvements (a p-value less than 0.05) only in the examination of cognitive functions, though we recorded a relatively significant improvement (a p-value of almost 0.05) in the case of investigations of balance, the functions of the upper limbs, and trembling in the upper limbs. On the other hand there was a relatively significant deterioration in the investigation of dysmetry in the lower limbs. We ascribe the overall minimal improvements in most of the functions investigated partly to the very unfavourable...
Physiotherapy impact on the stability of standing and selected clinical parameters in patients with multiple sclerosis
Honsová, Kamila ; Hoskovcová, Martina (advisor) ; Bitnar, Petr (referee)
Diploma thesis "Impact of physiotherapy on stability in stance and selected clinical parameters in Multiple Sclerosis patients" is aimed to study problems of disturbed postural stability in connection with this disorder. Research was made to evaluate the impact of two-month's physiotherapy, based on sensomotor learning, on the balance in stance, gait parameters and related functions. The sample of 6 patients with disability EDSS = 5, age 43 and more than five years course of MS on average, were undergoing a battery of clinical and paraclinical tests. Questionaire method was used for assessing quality of life parameters. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Positive interfering dual tasking in physiotherapy of multiple sclerosis
Dědeček, Martin ; Herbenová, Alena (advisor) ; Mende, Karel (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with mechanism behind functioning and possible utilization of dual-tasking training which fits into task-oriented approach. Main focus is emphasized on mechanism of dual-tasking paradigm or positive interfering dual-tasking paradigm respectively in order to provide information for further use in physiotherapeutical intervention. This bachelor thesis is divided into three parts, first dealing with theoretical grounds, second aiming at applying therapy and third including a case report of the patient.
The Effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation Applied by the WalkAide Neurostimulator on Balance and Gait in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Maršíčková, Veronika ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Author: Bc. Veronika Maršíčková Title: The Effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation Applied by the WalkAide Neurostimulator on Balance and Gait in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Objectives: The main aim of this diploma thesis is an assessment of therapeutic effect of functional electrical stimulation applied with using of the neurostimulator WalkAide on balance and gait of people with multiple sclerosis against standard outpatient physiotherapy. Partial aims are comparisons the immediate and persistent therapeutic effect of functional electrical stimulation. Methods: The thesis is a randomized controlled trial. For its realization it was necessary to create an intervention and a control group of probands. Both groups received 2 different rehabilitation programs. The intervention group received the WalkAide neurostimulator (for 2 months) for home use. The control group underwent a standard outpatient physiotherapeutic program with application of 20 therapies (at least) lasting 60 minutes (i.e. 2-3 times a week for 2 months). Data collection was performed by validated motor tests and questionnaires, which were focussed on endurance, speed and skilfulness of gait, static and dynamic balance and subjective perception of balance, overal mobility and pathological fatigue. These tests and...
The role of the gut microbiome in immune-mediated CNS disorders
Zedníková, Barbora ; Herink, Josef (advisor) ; Semecký, Vladimír (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Candidate: Bc. Barbora Zedníková Supervisor: Doc. MUDr. Josef Herink, DrSc. Title of diploma thesis: The role of the gut microbiome in immune-mediated CNS disorders Human body hosts a large number of microorganisms - i.e. Archea, Eukarya, Bacteria and viruses. These microorganisms form microbiome, the total number of the microorganisms is ten times higher than the number of all human cells. Largest part of the microbiome is located in the intestine. The current development of molecular genetics revealed the close relationship between intestinal microbiome and health. Recent studies the most recent studies have pointed to a connection with the pathogenesis of various diseases. This dissertation is focused on the connection between intestinal microbiome and autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system. Research shows that the key factor are the ongoing changes in the composition of microbiome. These changes lead to increased immune stimulation and thereby to inflammatory proliferation.
Lifestyle changes to lifestyle modification for people with multiple sclerosis
Libá, Martina ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Mahrová, Andrea (referee)
Title: Lifestyle changes to lifestyle modification for people with multiple sclerosis Aim: Designing a program that affects lifestyle, fitness and physiological parameters in subjects of different age and different sex of people who have a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Method: A literary review to make a summary of knowledge on MS and use of physical activities as opportunities to influence the overall lifestyle of people with MS. Results: The result is an overview of the programs and its evaluation - changes in physiological parameters, condition and subjective feelings. We found that when respecting the state of health programs may be implemented in the long term. Conclusion: The success of interventions depends on collaboration, time availability, but also the respecting of the designed programs of people involved. At the same time, however, assumes that an active lifestyle affects the mental aspect of individuals and their subjective feelings. Keywords: Multiple sclerosis, physical condition, subjective feelings, body fat percentage, body water percentage, body weight, muscle dysbalance
